The ADEEMS can be configured with EMI shielding. The base design, along with upgraded shielding seals, creates an effective Faraday cage. General design enhancements and material characteristics are as follows:
The ADEEMS is constructed using a framework of structural steel in the main section and aluminum extrusions in the expandable sections. Framework is assembled using GMAW processes and maintains low impedance.
Exterior sheeting is .125” 6061 aluminum sheeting applied to the structural members using adhesive tape and structural rivets. Sheet to sheet connections are made using GMAW welding process and conductive sealants.
Stainless steel full-length piano hinges are used for all main folding sections and are electrically bonded to exterior aluminum sheeting. Conductive seals are used at all seal surfaces.
Seals and Sealnants
All seals used for panel-to-panel connections are listed for use in EMI shielding systems and are bonded to exterior aluminum sheeting. Sealants used are electrically conductive.
A Single Knife Edge door offers a two-point latching system and integral contact mechanism with enclosed beryllium contact fingers.
Upon completion of shielding component installation, unit is tested to MIL-DTL-83528. Documentation is provided with each unit.
